Open Position: Academic employee (10-12 hours weekly)

Opportunity

The Global Health Section (GHS) at the Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Center for Disaster Research (COPE) invite applications for an academic employee (bachelor level) for two years starting from 1 September 2023.

Our research
The Copenhagen Center for Disaster Research (COPE), hosted by the Department of Public Health, is a platform for inter-disciplinary research, teaching and networking on disasters and climate change issues.
 

Your job
As part of the tasks at the GHS, the candidate is expected to support the Disaster Research Team – DFF project on urban resettlement and disasters. The candidate is also expected to take active part in the academic life of COPE and the Global Health Section and to work both independently and in collaboration with the research team at COPE and the Disaster research team at the Global Health Section.

We expect the candidate to support with organising workshops and helping with the project meetings. Further, within the Center for Disaster Research, the candidate will take part in arranging networking events and managing all external communication including stories for the website, website editing, newsletters, social media management and making all visual materials.
 

Profile
We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated academic employee with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • You are currently enrolled in a master program - global health, global development, anthropology, law, political science, communication, journalism or any discipline relevant to disaster studies
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and web
  • You can take decisions independently but is also comfortable working in teams and have a collaborative mindset
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement, as well as excellent writing skills
     

Desirable experience and skills

  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS preferred
  • Experience organizing events, writing newsletters, website editing and social media managing are an advantage
  • As part of COPE activities, experience with both print and digital media and proficiency in programs such as Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and InDesign

Terms of employment
For this position you must have obtained an bachelor degree.

The starting date is 1 September 2023. The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years.

The average weekly working hours are 10-12 hours per week.
